Every teacher always thinks about teaching, and the matters related to making it better, more disciplined and stricter then ever. These things are even practiced and the result we always yield is not truly but a failure.
These were the things which were always being observed by me, practiced merely by the schools and partially in the institutes of higher education those granting degrees or diplomas. “A slave can better analyze the imposed on him, then the master”. And this is what I did. Instead of giving these matters to teachers, the ‘rules to be laden’ should be debated and studied with students. While ‘pondering about the rules’, one should déjà vu his school days’ feeling he invoked when was laded with those rules. The way he felt, the way he got stressed, the fear roused, the plight he got, were all the adverse effect of the rules which double crossed the student’s daily routine.
“Students are like vessels and teaching is like flowing river”. So whatever teacher teaches should flow in such a way that every vessel should get filled up. But this is to be done with due care, because in this collection of vessels they aren’t alike, but all assorted. Some have wide mouth while some have bottle-necks. Some though being wide excavated may be having less storage, while many of those bottle-necks be having huge tank.
“Does he really needs a tutor or a supervisor is enough?” For teachers or parents, or whoever guides a student for striving for knowledge, whether the student is dull or brilliant, he must consider this point. Many times parents tell their child to go to his reading room and start his study. And at last he is scolded when the result is not up to the mark. They never note what the child studies, and even child can’t find the studying important and result oriented due to redundantly studying every year. At this time parent decide to send their child to the tutor. Now the Question arises; “Do he really need this?” Answer can be obtained by just experimenting one thing. Supervisor should go and just keep an eye on the child as he reads, no problem if can’t reply to your question even when you ask him. He will surely make difference in the result. This is because of the answer building ability. This ability everybody has, but what to do with it if has no knowledge? Last time when he got the question, he wasn’t able to collect the absolute knowledge relating it. But this time he is filled with the idea he unknowingly collected while reading the book even just for the sake of reading. Even reading aimlessly, but concentrating is helpful. Even encouraging and praising your child is helpful in studies. These are like reward for studying and he even thinks that he should work hard to earn more of such rewards. He can be provided with attractive study materials or stationeries as a means of reward or effective measure of studying.
“Beware of the impression you spill!” Some teachers like to portray themselves as a strict one. They are such strict that even some of the teachers fear them. Though strictness is many times helpful, but rather than being more helpful, it’s merely a loss. Such teachers can’t earn the love of their students. It may seem that there’s no loss if they can’t earn love, at least they can silent them! But wait! It isn’t so. Yes such can’t earn their love instead they earn their hatred and they are even feared. And this fear in students’ hearts for them creates a communication gap and they can’t go to that teacher to get their queries solved even when it’s critical. This factor is very widely a part of the problems of the factors student finding inconvenient to interact with teachers and teachers not being able to finds students drawbacks. Many times such teachers misinterpret a student’s quality and so even falsify them many times. Even a teacher ridiculing a particular student every time, is discouraging. The student feels that now as told by the teacher, he will always fail, so he stops thinking about studying. Teachers should always be encouraging and help student arouse interest in their subjects.
The teachers whom students love, they are very free with them. That teacher is considered very kind at heart and is assumed being more dignified then any others. Such teacher’s advice can turnout to be an influence for students. Teachers should try to mix up themselves with the students, sharing their feelings and ideas while they were their student’s age and their view about studies at that time and how much they were correct and how much incorrect and many more matters. Teachers should have clear conscience over their students and should not start intimidating them as soon as they come to them for query solving or for any reason instead, they should welcome them with jolly smiling face and be responsive to them even at their worst or silliest question.
Teachers are generally obsessed with the controversy that the clearing synonym of the alien words is a job of particular subject teacher, but he never notes that the reason of the failure of making student aware of that topic lies in this particular element. The deliberate but well expressed result of this mistake is resulted when students prepare for exams. The whole answer is improperly grasped and at last nothing or a little thing is contained. Anyway this point will be laid-off by those students who just mug up the answers instead of properly understanding them. But this will limit their knowledge to just theoretical while they won’t be having any practical proof for it. For example, let us consider ‘raw-material’; though we all know the meaning, we need to explain it to students not only by it example or exact synonym, but also by giving a visuals creating example. For example consider some object manufacturing; the raw material is passed on to the machine, and in turn that machine gives out steel cylinder which is used as a silencer. If a teacher stops here and let goes it, it can be considered for a particular reason, but there are many words in this example which for some students needed to be described in an elaborating manner; like silencer or the aspect of raw material.
If a student is being taught something which needs to be defined practically, the time shouldn’t be wasted then. Institute should collect all the materials needed to enhance the teaching theory. The more practical knowledge he is given, the more familiar he will be with the things. Imagine yourself learning how to drive a vehicle in a class room sitting on your benches in front of black board, and now imagine yourself sitting in your car on driver seat. Obviously, the latter one will be more fruitful then the former. If former one is taught to a bottle-neck student, he won’t be able to understand because of the compelling flow of water. And in latter condition, he may attain expertise because of the deliberate point to point flow of water.
“Mind your language!” While teaching you should consider this basic point. Never lose your anger while teaching. Your anger can create havoc in student’s mind. If a teacher gets angry too soon, the student won’t be able to help himself from being scared. When a student speaks something, before saying a word he usually looks for teacher’s expression, if those are discouraging, he won’t be able to clear himself and describe his queries clearly. Let the student feel the comfort and affection while talking.
Students are generally frustrated and psychology impulsive while writing exams, hence the scenes occurred prior to or during exams tend to create mental pressure. To prove their might, Supervisors, immediately after entering into class room, start speaking harsh language, and at times offensive. Imagine yourself getting cursed by your superiors or your seniors, now feel the bitterness you might feel, this thing is same with the students. When they give their exams, and such uncooperative squads visit, students can’t bear the anguish and find such language offensive and they find writing exams quite uncomfortable. Supervisors should be calm, quite, and friendly.
“Create a scenario before proceeding”. While being taught, student should at least get a hint what he is learning about, and for what reason, after all, not everyone is interested in pondering. And remember to crack a few jokes at intervals, this creates a refreshing effect and students can recollect their attention in the lectures.
Recall the day when you first entered in your college and faced new faces. What were your feelings? What were your thoughts? If I am sending you too further, then, analyze your feeling for a book bought new from the market, and feeling for the same book when half completed. Feeling for your computer in regular condition, and feeling for that when fully formatted. For your new purchased pair of clothes and for your regularly used ones. Observed the difference between the emotions, thoughts, the feelings for your things at different states? You must be having some soft of oneness for your things and odd feelings for those new comers, and newly bought ones. I believe it’s nothing but an impression that your mind generates for categorizing things in your vision for creating a sort of individuality in them. Have you ever observed the way you feel differently, varying upon colleagues?
Now if I have successfully created scenario about my point, then let me express my feeling. The views you feel may not be the way your students view, or the views your students feel, may not be the way you view. If I am still not clear, I am talking about the views upon students and teachers by each other. We feel warmth with whom we consider ours. And generally, when we relate things too often, they create a sort of oneness, a sort of familiarity. This is same in case of student and teacher, students see the same teacher everyday, interact with, and the result is that they create a lot of emotion and oneness for that teacher. Now that teacher, has to face about 40 students everyday, and can’t create that image of students as student created within a fortnight, or a month. Now when student interacts with the teachers he gets disgusting reactions which are quite annoying.
I commented about teachers imposing rules on the students. I got another idea why the rules created by someone else may be tough for others to follow. The answer is very simple, when you are hungry, you prefer to order all that’s possible and liked by you. But when you get those things in front of you, you start losing in interest in what you preferred before. At first instance you craved for all and much more, and now when you’ve got all. You start feeling that you’ve lost all the appetite for the things you ordered. It’s the same thing when the teachers prepare the virtual list of rules. They expect all those things to be done in a single instance. But what the result bears is a very neat failure or not much success. It’s all because they created the rules in the state of hunger and when it was the time of taking them in, they resulted in some sort of redundancy.
Your Comments are always welcome for they will add to betterment of my ideas.
